OUR WORKSHOPS
At the Kocatepe Cultural Center, our workshops bring together creativity, flavor, and culture.
Each session is guided by instructors and designed to offer a hands-on, social, and inspiring experience.
Participants can create, learn, and share — turning everyday ingredients into art and memory.
🫓 Bread Workshop – Learn to bake your own bread with traditional techniques and modern twists.
🍶 Drink Workshop – Discover local fermented drinks like boza and kvass, and enjoy tasting sessions.
📸 Photography Workshop – Capture moments from the workshops and transform them into weekly exhibitions.
🎨 Yeast Art Workshop – Explore the textures, layers, and patterns of yeast through creative expression.
🖌️ Plate Painting Workshop – Design and paint your own ceramic plates. Some sessions are specially held for children!

BREAD WORKSHOP

Purpose: To revive the traditional bread-making culture through modern, hands-on experiences.
What Happens:Participants make their own bread from scratch under the guidance of instructors. Each week, a new type of bread is chosen — from sourdough to flatbread. The workshop explores fermentation, texture, and taste, turning baking into a communal ritual.
Experience:At the end, everyone gathers to taste the bread together, sharing stories and freshly baked warmth.
DRINK WORKSHOP
Purpose: To explore the cultural and scientific side of fermentation.
What Happens:Guided by instructors, participants produce traditional fermented drinks like boza, kvass, and tepache. The process includes mixing ingredients, bottling, and understanding the natural yeast reaction.
Experience:After fermentation, participants taste and compare flavors, learning how time and patience create culture — both literally and symbolically.

PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP

Purpose: To document the creative process and transform daily experiences into visual stories.
What Happens:Participants photograph the workshops and products — from bread-making to fermentation moments. Instructors teach lighting, composition, and storytelling techniques.
Experience:Selected photos are displayed in the weekly exhibition, connecting culinary art with visual expression.
YEAST ART WORKSHOP
Purpose: To turn the natural beauty of yeast and fermentation into artistic expression.
What Happens:Participants observe yeast structures through magnified visuals and reinterpret them in abstract artworks using clay, paper, or digital tools.
Experience:The resulting works — inspired by the layered, porous, and living texture of yeast — are showcased in the center’s gallery space.
